NHS Dental Treatment is divided into 3 price bands (prices as of 2025):
Band 1 (27.40): Includes exam, diagnosis (e.g. x-rays), scale & polish, and prevention advice.
Band 2 (75.30): Includes Band 1 services & fillings, root canal work, extractions.
Band 3 (326.70): Includes Bands 1 & 2 & more complex procedures like crowns, dentures, bridges.
Urgent Dental Treatment (27.40): Includes emergency care such as pain relief or temporary fillings.
NHS Dental Care focuses on clinically necessary treatment i.e., procedures needed to keep your mouth, teeth & gums healthy.
It does NOT cover:
Cosmetic Treatments (e.g. teeth whitening).
Some specialist procedures (which may only be available privately.
NHS Dental charges are set by the government and reviewed annually. Certain groups may be entitled to free NHS Dental Care, such as children under 18, pregnant woman, and those receiving specific benefits.
